2010 Mini-Cup Rules

Car and Body

1. All bodies must appear to be mounted and level.

2. All cars, body and frame, must be a likeness of a Sprint Cup car and be in good condition

and appearance.

3. Cars must have safe and suitable front and rear bumpers.

4. Seats must be connected to the frame.

5. Car must have safety net on both sides of the car.

6. Cars must have a lt. side mirror, mounted inside on the chassis, rt. side optional.

7. Cars must have front and rear windshields made of LEXAN (1/16-MR10). Front must be

fastened, back glass must not be blown loose during race. Window brackets are

permitted. No holes will be permitted in front and rear windows.

8. No right or left side windows, opening must be at lease 20”.

9. All parts must be fastened so as not to come loose.

10. Cars must have an easy access lid made on top of car. Lids must be hinged in front

(opening from back to front). Lids must be made of fiberglass or plastic. Lid must be

fastened with rubber locking strap, pins, or Velcro; as long as the lid does not blow open

while on the track. Track officials have the authority to black flag a car racing with the lid

open.

11. Cars must have numbers on both sides and on top of car, 12” minimum on doors and 16”

minimum on roof facing grandstand. If car is numbered on windshield or right front

bumper, numbers must be a minimum of 3”.

12. A solid firewall is required to separate driver from engine compartment. Firewall must be

metal only. NO ALUMINUM ALLOWED. 2010 Chassis or newer must use a minimum of

18 ga. Steel.

13. Fire extinguishers are optional.

14. Steering column padded.

Legal Specifications

1. Safety: Safety belts must be Competition SFI Five Point Safety Harnesses. Harnesses

must be SECURELY FASTENED TO FRAME OR OTHER PRIMARY ROLL CAGE

MEMBER. Year date of belts…no older than 10 yrs….after 5 yrs. Left to discursion of the

safety tech.

2. Battery: Battery must be firmly secured behind the fire wall. Must have a metal strap

across the top. No battery is allowed to be inside the driver’s compartment

3. Fuel/Fuel Container/Feed System: Racing fuel or regular gas may be used as long as

Octane does not exceed 112. No additives will be allowed. Fuel containers must be

metal or plastic. Fuel line must have an in-line quick shutoff valve properly installed

between the fuel cell and fuel pump.

4. Oil: No additive is allowed and random oil checks will be administered. Oil catch cans

required on all cars and tubes must run from valve cover and/or crankcase to catch can.

5. Drive System: Crankshaft mounted torque converter or clutch is REQUIRED. No

transmissions. No direct drive. No axel clutches. Live axle only. Both hub keys must be

properly installed and both hubs must be locked in place to eliminate any independent

movement of either rear wheel whatsoever.

6. Chassis: Full perimeter type frame and four point roll cage is required. Primary frames

must be minimum 1” round or square mild steel tubing, minimum .065 wall thickness.

Cars built in 1994 or earlier may use 7/8” tubing, but will be required to pass a general

safety inspection. All welds must be sound. A full metal floor pan and firewall is required.

2010 or newer must use 18 ga. steel for firewall.

7. Suspension: RIGID… No shocks or springs allowed. Adjustable wedge suspensions are

allowed. No type of adjustable suspension that can be adjusted by driver while driver is

inside car.

8. Steering: All steering and suspension parts shall be cotter pinned, double nutted, lock

nutted or snap ring. Steering wheel must be quick release type and must lock into place

when attached. Kart type or rack & pinion allowed. Steering column padded.

9. Brakes: Rear hydraulic brakes are required. Must be caliper/rotor type, not strap type

brakes. Only ONE single brake rotor/caliper is allowed.

10. Axle: Minimum OD is 1”. No aluminum or titanium axles allowed. Hollow or solid axles

are optional.

11. Wheels and tires: Aluminum or steel rims are allowed but must be no more than 8” wide.

Tires must be new or in good condition with no visible flaws. Tires shall not extend more

than 2 ½ “past body of car. No softening agents of any type allowed on tires. Race tires

may be mixed matched.

12. Wheel Base: Minimum wheel base of 58”, maximum wheel base of 61” measured

between center of a rear axle to center of front spindle when front wheel is straight.

13. Width and length: Minimum of 38”, maximum of 50” measured from outside to outside of

both rear and front tires. Overall length minimum of 96”, maximum of 114” measured at

longest possible dimension.

14. Height: Minimum of 28” from ground to highest point.

15. Weight: Car and driver weight of 650 lbs. for Honda GX390-13 H.P. or its

clone,(exception, if drivers weight is less than 125 lbs. total weight is 625 lbs.) 575 lbs.

for Honda GX 340-11H.P. or its clone. Weights must be securely fastened and

completely immobilized and painted white with car number written on them. Car must

have no more than 58% left side weight. Weight must be written on hood of the car.

16. Riding Height: Minimum riding height is 1” including all sides of car-front, rear, left side,

and right side.

17. Spoiler Specs: Height- Minimum 2 ½ “ Max 4.0, Minimum thickness .0625 (1/16)

aluminum or Plexiglas. Corners of spoiler must be rounded. Spoiler must be centered on

car plus or minus 1”. C.O.T. spoiler is allowed.

18. Bumper Bar: Rear bumper must have bar from 4” minimum, 6” maximum, Must not pass

body by more than 1”. Bumper bar must be ¼” to 1” inside of rear body of bumper.

Bumper bar is optional.

Engine legal specifications

1. Honda or Honda Clone 11 H.P & 13 H.P. engines allowed. Electric start only and

electric starter must be in good working condition.

2. Any flywheel key or no flywheel key is allowed. Lightweight flywheel permitted. 13 hp

Honda or clone Flywheel only. No aluminum.

3. Stock Honda coil. NO MODIFICATIONS

4. Maximum size on venture of carburetor is .883, must pass Go-No Go Plug. Any other

modifications are permitted.

5. Fuel pump may be pulsed from spacer behind carburetor but no other modifications are

allowed. No electric fuel pumps allowed.

6. Honda valves 3 angel valve job okay. Stainless steel or titanium valves okay. No Big

Valves.

7. After market pushrods, valve springs, and retainer okay.

8. Must run head gasket.

9. Any other cylinder head modifications okay.

10. Honda rocker arm reinforcing is allowed.(Roller Rockers NOT Permitted)

11. Heiler coil allowed to repair stripped threads.

12. Welding on block allowed to repair cracks only.

13. Standard Bore: 11 HP 340 cc Max. Bore 3.249 Stroke 2.520

13 HP 390 cc Engine Max. Bore 3 .540 stroke 2.520

14. Light weight Honda piston allowed. Must be installed in correct direction per OEM.

15. Light wrist pin okay. Wrist pin holes cannot be moved from stock position.

16. Honda rods must remain stock length. Rod inserts allowed. Rod bolts may be changed

but must remain original diameter. Clearance for rod bolts allowed. ARC connecting

rods are permitted. Clone rod must be same length as Honda rod.

17. Crankshaft must remain stock. Crankshaft can be grounded undersize only to fit

standard Honda rods or rod inserts. Crankshaft cannot be offset. Crankshaft may be

turned down to ¾” for clutch. Knife edge cuts are permitted. Can be ground to fit ARC

10 under rod inserts.

18. Balance must be stock, no lightening.

19. Engine exhaust must exit outside of car’s body. No pipe can protrude towards cockpit

or drivers compartment.

20. Removal of low oil indicator allowed.

21. Removal of easy-spin allowed.

22. Removal of starter rope and also aftermarket flywheel screen allowed.

23. No oil coolers are allowed.

24. Removal of gas tank brackets on top block allowed.

25. Charging system may be removed.

26. Carb. Adjuster allowed during practice, but must be disconnected before race.

RACE

1. Age: Minimum age of ten (10) with prior racing experience. All drivers new to the

division must start at the rear of the field for the first three (3) races. Drivers 10 – 16

must have a spotter and must have an orange stripe in the middle on the back of the

car ( 10 – 16 rookie must have a orange and yellow stripe ) to distinguish them from

adults. Rookie drivers over 16 must have a yellow stripe on their rear bumper.

2. Top five (5) finishers that take the checkered flag are required to go to the weigh scales

after race. Top five (5) drivers must stay with there car until weight check is complete.

No fuel can be added between the completion of the race and the weighting of the cars.

3. Top five (5) cars will be impounded for post race inspection.

4. Any car/driver that fails post race inspection or post race weight will be disqualified. In

the event of a DQ, driver forfeits all monies and points for that race.

5. A driver can protest only the car that finishes in front of him/her. Protest money must be

paid in cash and handed to the Mini-Cup Tech Man only. Protests must be made before

the car leaves the scales. No protest will be accepted once all cars pass the scale

except for tract tech specs.TECH ROOM (Tech Man, Protester,(1) Protester

6. Radio’s are allowed.
